After the Finish Line : The Race to End Horse Slaughter in America
Review Date: 12/5/2008

Very informative book. Anyone who loves horses should read this eye opening book.

I was generally aware of horse slaughter, but was amazed to learn that even well known track winners have ended up there. I never knew how many horses do end up there.

Informative, but sad to learn the demise of so many horses. No horse should end up being slaughtered and sold as human food!

I have always like Robert Morgan books. This one didn't disappoint.

However it needs to be mentioned that several of the stories in this book were taken from other books he has written.

I did enjoy rereading those I had read before and really enjoyed the new ones I hadn't.

Very good book.

This book was a quick read.

Hard to put in words what I really thought. Words that come to mind are shocked that a person would put down 6 dogs just because of so called aggression issues. I could probably understand the first dog, maybe, but then by the end of the book 6? The author has many reasons why, other than that maybe she let the dogs run in a pack and that is what started the issues. Never was it her fault that the dogs became aggressive. Her answer was to take the dogs to the vet and have them put to sleep.

Only good review is that I thought it interesting how the house in this story told the story, that was unique.

I have read other Laymon books and enjoyed them.

This one however seemed to be very drawn out and it was hard to keep my interest.

Not only drawn out, but the story was so predictable. For myself I like books that don't have such a predictable story line.

Yes, there was a few surprises, but a lot of the book was predictable.

I hope my next Laymon book won't be like this one was.

Great read. Keeps you interested. This book is set during the time of the American Revolution. It basically tells the story of a woman who for her safety dresses as a man. Remember this was a time when many woman were raped and murdered, reason why she did this.

She is actually thrown into the revolution itself and has to fight as a man and hoping not to be found out, while desperately trying to find her husband.

VERY GOOD READ. Robert Morgan doesn't disappoint. I love his books.

Shocked is what I will say. This woman who wrote this book is a bit on the crazy side to say the least.

Between stealing dogs and then choosing dogs over her husband??

What gives this woman the right to go steal pets to "save" them? And how is that going to prevent the person she stole from from just getting another pet?

There are better ways to save animals and stealing isn't one of them.

No wonder the author uses a fictious name. Guess I would to if I was out doing what she did.
