I read any WWII book I can, but I prefer stories about "people's experience" (rather than troop movement and battles). I was intrigued by the idea of learning what happened to German civilians. This was a well written, fabulous account of 6 years of a young German boy's life. I highly recommend it.

A unique story from WWII. Definitely Worth the read.

Just a simple feel good story. Takes place in Gainesville Fla which is why I was interested in reading it, but while it took place in the 1950's and later, it was pure fiction - no real businesses people or places were included. Disappointing in this respect but not a bad story.

I read a lot about WW II. This added a new layer to my knowledge of how the world was changed.

Being from Florida, this book was a fun look back at the "Glory" days of the theme parks prior to Disney. The Mermaids still swim....
