Although this book has a suggested age range of 9-12 years old, it's a wonderful read even for adults. The main character is 9-10 and her sister is 10-11 in this book, thus the suggested age range.
The author wrote this book as an adult and inserts some of her perspectives from an adult point of view. For me, as an adult who has been to Pearl Harbor several times and grown up near a military base in California, this was a very unique look at the lives of families living at Ford Island before and in the days right after the bombing. Very rare photographs are also included.
I would definitely recommend this to Pearl Harbor visitors and people interested in the personal accounts of life during WWII.

This book paints a picture of Amish life in a variety of communities. However, the focus is on the inner struggles that can occur when we try to fit into the life our parents expect us to, yet feel a need to follow our own path.

One of my favorite books!! It's full of information about WWII events in Italy from both the English and the Italian perspective and the effect it had on the lives of the local Italians. I love the information about the foods/meals and how the resources available affect what's served. Lots of tidbits of research show up in the writing of the book, which made the book especially interesting.
