I really enjoyed the book. It was a quick read and the growth of the main character was well done. I am curious about some of what I considered more modern ideas/topics being discussed in the book, but possibly I don't know my history as well as I thought! Despite that I really loved the book.

A natural story teller. I couldn't put it down. It also is a revival of the spirit to see how people who have so much against them can go on and make the world a better place.

This is a great book for high school/college students or adults wanting to improve their writing. I teach 5th grade and it's beyond that scope.

Well written and very interesting. Of course, I wouldn't want to be one of the people interviewed by this reporter! She tells everything these people said. It was a sad story.

Great book. It's very different as it is written from the view of a child, but extremely well written. Zipped through it once I started. Can't wait to read the sequel.

Well done. I've lost a child, and much of what Rocha wrote resonated with me. She does a fantastic job explaining what it's like to lose a child.

Great book. Fast read. It is a testiment to what people can overcome. I also enjoyed the honesty of the idea that we can love people even when they are not perfect and when they do things that hurt us.
