Although well written, it was much too depressing for me. I was lucky to have read Half-Broke Horses first. That book was amazing and the reason I decided to try The Glass Castle. I'm very disappointed with this book.

This was a pretty good book, but I just couldn't get into it. I can't really pinpoint what it was but there was nothing to keep me from putting the book down. Usually, if a book is good, I can't stop reading it, so in 2-3 days max, I'm done. This book couldn't keep my interest and it took about 2 weeks to finish and even then I was forcing myself.
This book wasn't a total loss and it made me laugh once or twice. I give the book 3 stars because it was decent, but not one I would ever remember to recommend to anyone.
On a seperate note, having this book in my living room when company came over raised a few eyebrows. The title was a great conversation piece.

This book was a great read. I couldn't believe it half the time because the experiences were so fantastic. Jeannette Walls is a great storyteller.

I loved this book because I read it at the perfect time of my life. I just had my first baby about 3 months before I read the book. I could totally relate to so many aspects of the book. It gave me some much needed laughs and stress relief. I love that it gave the stories of these new mothers without judgements about how any of them were deciding to raise their babies. As a new mother, all I get is advice and I appreciate it all and need most of it; however, it's nice to read about other peoples ideas without any pressure to enforce it in my own life. I love that not all the male characters were useless and ridiculous. I have a wonderful husband and that was just one more reason I liked the story. No need to bash men in every chick novel.
5 stars and I will definitely read this book again!
