I enjoyed this fast moving story with two intelligent people
trying to find answers and stay alive at the same time.
Kelly works for a highly intelligent man who has made up a code
to hide important information against the cartel. Kelly is
involved right away in three murders, her best friend, her boss and the special agent. Her boss gives her a tape to keep safe
for him. Her friend enters the office. Using the phone she knocks the tape from the desk to the floor. As Kelly bends
over to retrieve the tape the friend kicks it under the desk. At that time a shooter comes in the door shooting Kelly's friend
and her boss and the agent. He did not know Kelly was there, she is not harmed. But she needs to escape, Kelly is now on the run. Trent Tucker has been sent to guard her and find answers to the killings. Kelly is a smart thinker. She starts to think about this wanting to know the reason why this happen to her. As Trent enters,he finds his talents as a Colby Agent will protect them,
as they begin to put the pieces of this puzzle together.

Dinosaur hunter Raine Ashaway lives for the thrill of the next archaeological find. Raine Ashaway initially comes across a bit uncouth when mingling in the museum, especially considering the tactics she uses to thwart the would-be robbers. However, once Raine is in the world she is best suited for, the actual dinosaur hunt, her rough edges smooth out. Her Indiana Jones-like persona begins to emerge and the action truly kicks in.
AN ANGEL IN STONE is the perfect example of the Silhouette Bombshell line. The combination of action and romance is superb as readers travel on a harrowing journey in search of the opalized T. Rex. "Born To Be Wild," a popular soap opera, stars Mary Lisa Beverly as bad girl Sunday Cavendish. When Mary Lisa, who is really a perfectly nice person, is nearly run down by a car, she quickly realizes the incident was a murder attempt. During the ensuing investigation, Mary Lisa falls in love, nearly dies, wisecracks, finds a corpse or two, and staves off an obnoxious paparazzo. Susanna Burney has an appropriate vocal personality for such a light romance/mystery. She sounds likable, good humored, and smart. Largely stinting the laugh lines, she treats the novel's other elements with a bit too much understatement. Her infrequent bursts of sparkle add brief gusts of freshness. Would that there were more of them!

He is all geared up for a quiet escape when wouldn't you know Omar's men show up with a female hostage. Audrey Benedict.
Audrey is in Malaysia to adopt a child when her sister, Nicky and several other people are taken hostage by Malaysian guerillas.
Keep an eye out for Hamid, Jamil and Omar - what a nasty group!
Their escape and trek through the jungle is breath-taking, plus-pounding action with a couple of death-defying skirmishes and a tricky encounter with Hamid.
And dang, even the Malaysian troops are shooting at them.
Great moving action - plot - story - join in the dodging of the bullets, snakes, creepy-crawlies - oh yes, and a mud slide.

I have to admit, I was skeptical. An Intrigue book digging up that dusty old romance standby, the sheikh? Not exactly my cup of tea. So it was a pleasant surprise to find in "Captured by a Sheikh" a well-told mystery that firmly engages from page one.
Holly Rivers' sister had disappeared, leaving her baby in Holly's care. Holly would do anything to care for her nephew, even if it meant marrying a man she didn't love. But Holly's wedding plans came to a halt when Sheikh Sharif Al-Khalil, a man who claimed he was the baby's father, tried to kidnap him. Holly went after him and found herself in the middle of a mystery of international proportions. Could she possibly trust a man who had every reason to get rid of her sister when he claimed he had done nothing? And what of the killers suddenly on their tail?
"Captured by a Sheikh" tells a tale of international intrigue too seldom seen in recent Intrigues, with a strong emotional line that gives it an instant immediacy and rooting interest in the characters. Though the book shares more than a few similarities with Diamond's first Intrigue, "And the Bride Vanishes," it is actually a breath of fresh air in many ways. Holly and Sharif's romance is tender, complicated by cultural issues the book doesn't avoid, and they're surrounded by a complex cast of characters covering a wide range of types. While some moments and emotions are a bit perfunctory, the author never fails to keep you turning the pages. It's also a book that only gets better as it goes along. The final fifty pages or so, full of surprise turnarounds and unexpected twists, are white-knucklers, full of edge-your-seat suspense as the characters are thrown into mortal danger, in a true race to survive. Fans of this particular theme, and those that aren't, will find much to enjoy in "Captured by a Sheikh."

I read Harlequin Intrigue (HI) because I like mysteries and I like love stories. These books combine the best of both. I also appreciate how these are a quick read that doesn't require a lot of thinking.
Susan Kearney is one of my favorite HI authors. She does a credible job of making a realistic mystery that throws two people together. Very good.
This set about the Sutton twins were some of my favorite stories by Susan Kearney. The twists and turns in the plot are well written and interesting. They keep the book going. Many of the HI books about babies dwell too much on the baby part of the book. This book does not do that. The baby only adds to the drama and suspence.

If only she had proof of the phone calls with Justin's voice or the letter she received from him. Surely she can't be imagining all of this...can she? When I awarded JOHN DOE ON HER DOORSTEP, the first book in The Enforcers series, a Perfect 10 last month, I never expected that this book would not only equal the last one, but surpass it. Yet that's exactly what Ms. Webb has accomplished in the second book, EXECUTIVE BODYGUARD. Therefore, I find myself -- who rarely awards more than four or five Perfect 10's in an entire year -- in the unique position of awarding well deserved back to back Perfect 10's.
As with JOHN DOE ON HER DOORSTEP, EXECUTIVE BODYGUARD gets high marks for delivering a tightly paced series romance with the feel of a longer single title. An emotion-grabbing contemporary romance with nail biting suspense and the watch-your-back intensity of a political thriller, EXECUTIVE BODYGUARD has all the ingredients in first-rate fiction of any genre -- but it's a romance, which, for me, makes it even better.
Caroline's efforts to balance her personal life with her presidential duties is realistically portrayed. She understands the importance of her position as the first woman to hold the office and knows that her performance will affect other women's ability to compete in future elections. The pressure on her to succeed in what is essentially a man's arena is enormous. Readers will not find it difficult to empathize with her and will therefore pull for her all the way. Readers will also love the hero. As much as I'd like to gush, I can't really say too much about him for fear of giving things away. Those who have read JOHN DOE ON HER DOORSTEP (if you haven't, go grab a copy now!) will have gotten a glimpse of him there. As wonderful a hero as Adam proved then, this hero stands out even more. His determination to protect Caroline, coupled with his desire to be the man she needs, but believes he can never be, melted my heart.
EXECUTIVE BODYGUARD moves at a quick, but steady pace; with each turn of the page, the suspense builds along with the sexual tension and the emotional connection between the hero and heroine. Secondary characters are well written and add to the mystery because, like Caroline, the reader doesn't know whom to trust.
Though EXECUTIVE BODYGUARD stands well on its own, you won't want to miss the first book in this outstanding series. Once you've finished both books, you'll be itching to get your hands on the final book in the trilogy, MAN OF HER DREAMS, which should be on bookstore shelves soon.
