I enjoyed this book very much, just the light-comedic reading I needed during a stressful time in my life. You'll enjoy it, too!
Had a twist or two I wasn't expecting.

About the story line: 12 lush and lilting interconnected stories, all taking place in the same Cape Cod farmhouse over the course of generations. Built during British colonial days by a man who dies tragically on a final fishing trip, Blackbird House is home, in the following generation, to a man who lost his leg to a giant halibut. In the late 19th century, Blackbird inhabitant Violet Cross has a brief affair with a Harvard scholar who inevitably betrays her; in the story that follows, she pushes her son, Lion West, to Harvard in 1908, which in turn launches him to lifeand early deathin England. Lion's orphaned son, Lion West Jr., serves in World War II and meets a German-Jewish woman spirited enough to stand up to his possessive grandmother Violet. Hoffman's symbols are lovingly presented and polished: the 10-year-old boy who drowned with his father in the first story sets free a pet blackbird, who returns, now all white, to live with the boy's mother; in the last two stories, a 10-year-old boy blames a white crow for his mischief, and, a generation later, that boy's grown-up sister meets a 10-year-old boy who makes her reconsider selling Blackbird House. Fire, water, milk, pears, halibutthese, too, play important symbolic and sometimes almost magical roles. This may not be the subtlest of literary devices, but Hoffman's lyrical prose weaves an undeniable spell.

If you're ready for a new format, this is it. She dreams, she gets hurt, she leaves reality to live in her dreams. Of course, the hero is a tall, dark and handsome man of her dreams/then reality.....hummmmm.

The heroine goes to Fort Pit with her owner and 2 other families to found a new village, but the frontiersman or guide is her love. She doesn't feel free to be with him since she's indentured to another man.

This is a brand new simple activity book with scissors skills, it's great for a quick lesson, has 140 stickers, smallish for small hands.

My copy, though it doesn't appear so here, is larger (8 inches by 5 inches), I'm assuming large print. Still it's paperback. Love the feel of it. ~Pamela~

I've read Gray's other book Men Are From Mars and enjoyed it as well. My copy, Pamela's book cover, is cream colored, not the bright yellow pictured. Hope you get some use from this book, enjoy.

It'll bring you to tears. Surprisingly, this book is written by a man, from a woman's standpoint and very poingnant. I couldn't put it down until I'd read it all.

Disgusted with this book. Started out pretty good and interesting, then the author writes the story line in such a manner as to want you to accept and understand lesbianism. Gag.
