I tend to especially enjoy books with dogs in them anyway but this was a bit different with the dog's point of view. It actually worked. Plus, I learned about race car driving! Very sweet book even though it made me cry.

This book lived up to all the hype about it and I'm glad I read it. Gave an intimate glimpse into lives of these people I never really thought about before.

Loved this book, partly because I live near the area where the book takes place, along the Oregon coast. Different style of writing, some might not like it but I find it quite lyrical with keen observation into nature and humanity.

A realistic fantasy novel full of surprises and lovely descriptive passages. Some scenes from this book will stay with me forever.

Having never read a book by this author before I was happy to have enjoyed this first choice to begin my reading experience and quickly ordered the next book in this series. I did find it difficult to get started, so many new unusual names to learn for the large cast of characters but once I had that sorted out it was a more engaging read. This might not have been the best book by Salvatore to begin with, but it wasn't hard to pick up on the story. I'll be watching for more books by this author in the future.

Fascinating true story, the title really sums it up well, survival, resilience and redemption. A lot of brutality in this book but it is part of the history of WW2 and maybe it is good not to forget, so we can try to prevent it from happening again.
