"Thirty-nine steps--I counted them..." This cryptic message, scrawled in a dead man's hand was all that Richard Hannay had to go on. It was the only clue to the dread cult called Black Stone, and to the man with eyes lidded like a hawk. Hannay himself was a fugitive, wanted for murder. But he knew that unless he solved the riddle of the thirty-nine steps, the life of a nation--and Richard Hannay--would soon be finished.

Pulitzer Prize winning book about two cousins in World War II America. Combines elements of magic, loss, comic books, love. Very well written.

Very interesting book. I really enjoyed it very much. It is the story of a dinner party that becomes hostage for several months and all the relationships that ensue between captives and captors. Worth reading.

Enjoyable book for children. The bear cubs have to learn how to keep their room clean. Always teaches a lesson in the typical Berenstain Bear fashion.

A great book for the movie buff. Quizzes are on different levels so appropriate for the beginner or the expert. This is NOT a hardcover book.

Very enjoyable. Not quite as good as the first one (when are sequals ever as good?) but a very fun read. If you enjoyed the first book, you will like this one too.

Hilarious look at life of "singleton" in Britain. Echoing "Pride and Prejudice" in a modern way, it is a very enjoyable read.

This is a collection of fascinating short stories from a wonderful author.

A great story about a lion who changes his appearance and then his friends don't recognize him. A good lesson for kids about putting too much emphasis on looks.

I loved this book. There is a devotion and Bible verse for each day of pregnancy. This book is very slightly worn because of being such a help for my pregnancies.

An enjoyable, light read. Especially good if you have read Austen. The extra features (summary of novels, reviews, etc.) were very interesting.

This book is based on a Disney Channel movie. Although it is not great literature for adults, my children liked it. It is about a teen boxer who becomes a Double Dutch jump rope champion. It has themes of communication with parents, different genders trying different sports, and enjoying what youdo.
