The story of Bill Irwin, who with his dog Orient, became the first blind person to thru-hike the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail. Bill Irwin's life has been filled with pain and promise. Trying to cope with divorce, alcoholism, estranged children, and blindness has hardly been easy. In fact, it left Bill with a desire to continue to anesthetize himself with alcohol, even as he conducted seminars on toxicology. Finally a cry for help from a cocaine addicted son force Bill into a situation where he could admit that his own life was out of control. Soon his life changed in many ways, ways that would eventually lead him to answer a call to walk the Appalachian Trail with his Seeing Eye dog Orient. In a remarkable story of commitment, perseverance, and the will to survive, Blind Courage portrays Bill Irwin the first blind person to hike the entire Trail. Through fourteen states, along 2,168.9 miles, Bill and Orient walked, sending a message to us all, reminding us of and encouraging us to pursue our own impossible dreams.

This is one of my favorites of his. Dean is always a good choice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is NOT an Alex Cross book so don't expect that. It's out there, and a twist on revelations. It kept me guessing and creeped out as well. James Patterson is always good, and this is one of my favorites of his.

To be fair this isn't the kind of book I usually read. Lil is annoying and shallow which I guess is the appeal of this book? I have tried to pick it up many times but it's just terrible. I gave it 189 pages, painfully, I won't finish it.

A quick little read that will make you really appreciate who you are, and the fact that our" little" lives affect others for good and bad. I loved this book. I thought I might actually make it through without crying, I was wrong. Make sure you have some tissues and be ready to reflect on your own life. I have lent out my copy many, many times.

Some of the content is hard to stomach. Not because of gore, but because of graphic pedophile scenes. If you can get past that, it is a very interesting vampire book. I chose to skip over those parts in the book and enjoyed the rest of the story. It is dark and a little bleak at parts, but I couldn't put it down.

Read it in just a few days. If you're in the mood for supernatural and getting those hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. this one is a good choice.

This book will always be in my personal collection. My sister gave it to me because she needed someone else to discuss it with. All I can say is it is inspiring. It gives you a new view on life as a woman. I hugged my family and told them I loved them so much while I read this, and discussed it with them as well. It is beautifully written and heartbreaking. It is written about a woman by a man so there are a few times I didn't agree, but chalked it up to cultural differences. Although it is fictional it does make you appreciate what you have.

This is my very favorite of all Dean Koontz books. It's fun and quirky, and has the usual good mystery as well.

This is the first in the series that I read. It got going on the first page and I couldn't put it down until I was done. I really enjoyed this book and even though this isn't what I usually read, I can't wait to read more of the Argeneau vampires. Romantic, fun and a mystery too.

Entirely different from anything I've read. I fell in love with Elphaba. The characters are well written and it's amazing how different they all are. Often when you read a work of fiction it's obvious that all the characters are the creation of one person. There is so much variety, and even the way they speak is different. I absolutely love this book, but don't usually recommend it because it's got some weird sex stuff in it- The kind that makes you feel kinda yucky inside. But the story is amazing and makes you wish when you watch The Wizard of Oz, that Dorothy won't throw that pail of water on the "wicked" witch.
