This is my favorite Horus Heresy book since the original trilogy. I had an intense dislike for Perturabo based on the petulant way he did things in earlier books. I liked his Iron Warriors Legion, but not him. After reading this book he became my favorite traitor Primarch. It fleshes out his character while also advancing the story of the corruption of the Emperor's Children Legion.

Another enjoyable entry in the Dresden Files. In this volume we see Harry dealing with his new status as the Winter Knight, and the aftermath of his near death for his friends, apprentice, and the balance of power in Chicago. Without his presence to discourage undesirables from the supernatural world, and the power vacuum left after the events of "Changes".

A good side story that ties into the second Gaunt's Ghosts Omnibus telling the story of the other critical battles taking place in the Sabatt Worlds Crusade that don't involve the Tanith First and Only.

This book was a pretty good read about the first stages of the Damnos campaign and gives possible hints as to the structure of the Necron Codex coming out shortly.

This book gives us a look into the Blood Angels Legion and our first significant taste of Sanguinius since the series began. It is a decent book, and advances the overall story.

Another excellent entry in the Dresden Files. Picking up from the cliffhanger ending of Changes our favorite professional wizard finds himself not quite dead and has to solve his own murder or never be able to rest in peace.

The Ultramarines finally make their appearance, and the Word Bearers stab them in the back. The two largest Legions wage war on the garden world of Calth leaving it uninhabitable, and effectively keep the Ultramarines out of the war. THis book explains why the Ultramarines never made it to Earth until after the Siege of Terra was over.

A good hard science fiction book with a premise that could happen in the next 50 years. Not the stranding of an Astronaut on Mars, but regular almost routine manned missions to Mars. Have not watched the movie.

A great read in an interesting world. While Wade is not always the most likable protagonist his opposition is so bad you root for him anyway. He is supposed to be socially awkward and he behaves that way in his interactions improving once he has some actual interpersonal interactions beyond the Oasis.

Highly recommended especially in preparation for the upcoming film adaptation.

An interesting anthology in the fictional setting of the Gaunt's Ghosts books by Dan Abnett including a historical story about the victory of Warmaster Slaydo over the leader of the Chaos forces in the Sabbat sector which happens not long before the first novel in the series.

This is the book that shows Horus making a direct bargain with the Ruinous Powers and ensuring that he can't turn from his chosen path.

An interesting fantasy where violence can have nasty repercussions for the protagonist. A bit long and the sequels are longer. It will be a while before I tackle book 2.
