Hitchcock Sewell is hilarious! This series is a MUST READ!
Review Date: 1/1/2009
This is possibly one of the best written series I've ever read. I rarely pick up a book set in anything other than the present day. I am glad that I made an exception in this case. The books are set in the turbulent sixties. While there are many racial injustices against black people in the story there is blame spread around to both white AND black people. The balance is one rarely found in books that tackle these issues. Smokey Dalton is simply one of the best characters to come out of crime fiction to date. I highly recommend this series to mystery and suspense readers as well as general fiction readers.

Amos Walker is absolutely one of my favorite private eyes. He's got all the essential quality...a nose for the facts (just the facts, maam)...and a smartass mouth to rival the greats! If you've never read an Estleman mystery...read this Amos Walker ...he does not disappoint.

Excellent book! Elizabeth Chase is interesting and funny. The psychic aspect of the book is compelling and is definitely not "hokey" like so many other paranormal mysteries.
