Bunnicula was a fun and witty book. Not in the least bit scary. We read it aloud and the whole family enjoyed it. Plenty of laughs!

I like the introduction which teaches the difference between primary sources and secondary sources and emphasizes consulting primary sources instead of just accepting what it said about historical figures. Since we have been studying history, I have found that there is quite a bit said (particularly about our founding fathers) that cannot be traced to a primary source. The writer will usually reference another text that is not a primary source. Where did you get your information? is a question we should all be willing to ask. In their own words has excerpts from Davy Crockett's auto-biography, letters from family, court records etc. and it has been both informative and enjoyable for me and my child.

This book and all of the books in the Writing Strands Series has been a great help to me as a homeschool mom with little experience in this area. My daughther is a natural writer and this program gives her both freedom of expression and the guidelines that she needs for every genre of writing. The program is not overwhelming for either of us.

This is an inspiring story. It is a testimony to the human spirit. It is also a testimony to the greatness of our country and the opportunity afforded to every individual regardless of circumstances. I left the book feeling good about America (something that seems to be anathema in these times). I also left it with an admiration for Justice Thomas.

The Prince Of The City: Giuliani, New York And The Genius Of American Life
Review Date: 6/16/2009

This is a good and thorough history of New York City examining the policies and people that caused New York to be nick named The Rotten Apple and an examination of the policies and methods that Giuliani used to turn things around. Not at all a dull read, particularly the part about the gangs and mob influences of the past.

This book is difficult to read if you are used to reading good literature. The sentences are short and non discriptive. I have read children's book that flow better than this one. I am plodding through it just to see what happens. I never thought that I would say this about a book, in this case, the movie is better.

The title is what initially grabbed me. The book is a page turner, I read it in two days.
For me, the book was a one timer. Not the kind of book that you turn over in your mind for weeks afterwards and know that you will come back and read again, not what I would call meaty, but a good one time read and sadly could be and probably is true of some peoples lives.
