This book is engrossing and should be a must read for anyone with an autistic spectrum child or adult, anyone who knows someone like that (and most people do, when the think about the traits shown in this book) and/or would like to know more about the modes and methods for the handling of the many problems of such people. Jodi Picoult has done so much accurate research it is amazing. Her character of Jacob is finely drawn and detailed to the point we know him, feel for him and his family as they deal with probably the biggest crisis in their lives.
As painful as many of the scenes described were, you are held by the mothers tenacity and drive, by Theo's tolerance and adaptation to the situation, Oliver's acceptance and cooperation, and the many and varied reactions of people coming in contact with the family. This book is one of a kind!

I was not impressed. The intricate characters end with a big nothing denouement. I expected more.

A different sort of book--three shorter stories, Patterson in collaboration with three different authors. Fast moving, each story can be read in one evening. Each one themed differently, also, so expect not just fast pace but variety. I give this 3 1/2 stars.

Briefly, an unusual book. Goes back and forth in history from present to past and the intricacies of a past life showing the basis for the current problems. Mother, Laura with a mysterious turn of events has sent daughter on a quest to find an old friend. While on the way, daughter Andy finds a huge amount of money her mother has obviously stashed away in the past.
Without revealing too much of the plot, numerous people are killed and some events are mysterious also.
While I have not reached the denouement of the tome, so far I am engaged and intrigued by the subjects--and we never do know all the secrets people may have in their past!

I have come to think that Stuart Woods Barrington series is written more for quantity than quality. The plots have become thinner, with minimal character development. The references to sexual dalliances more frequent and attention getting--ie, a menage-a-trois in this one.
The outcomes of the stories are predicatble. I do not plan to pursue readership of any of the series I have missed.

Michael Bennett has married Mary Catherine, long time care giver to his 10 children. The mystery component of the book is nicely woven into the caring and love he has for his family. Not one of the best (to me) of the Michael Bennett mysteries, but an engaging book, nevertheless.
