Great read for military buffs. Terrific depiction of tanker life both in peacetime and war. Heartstopping action and accurately described armor action in the very topical setting of Korea. First of a trilogy and books 2 & 3 just keep ramping up the action and drama of life and death for the well fleshed out characters who crew these amazing engines of war. Not for the faint of heart. Written in 2005 , these events could unfold for real before the reader finishes the 3 book arc.

Book three of the trilogy. See my review of book one "Armored Core". You must read these in order as the characters grow and somtimes die over the course of this compelling story arc. Fasten your seatbelts and "Button UP!" This series enjoys the support and respect of actual tankers . Thier glowing testimonials are listed at Amazon.com. This series is a must read for military action fans!

Nice new series with a new twist on the modern navy. First book ,in what looks like a trilogy at least,is short on action and long on character developement. Much time is devoted towards the description and assembly of "Sea Base",a new cocept in US power projection. Meadows knows his subject and the follow on books should ramp up the action as was the case with his excellent "Sixth Fleet" series.

This is the sequel to "dauntless" and is probably the second in an extended series. The series is a great read for military,especially naval, buffs who also have an interest in good scifi. Every type of fleet ship mentioned has an earthbound ocean-going equivalent.Great action and a well thought out overall quest will have you wanting the next in the series asap! Highly recommended!

Great ending to a great "what if" trilogy. Fans of alternate history should not miss this. This book ties up the story lines nicely but still leaves us wanting more. Here's hoping Birmingham revisits this universe again.

I picked this up because Dr. Forstchen co-wrote it. I am a huge fan of his "LOST REGIMENT" series and was starving for some of his wonderful military "What if?" type of fiction. His presence can be immediately felt as this novel introduces his trademark culture clash style. What if enemies from totaly different backgrounds and ways of life were forced to band together in the face of an even greater threat? Dire enemies who are both human have to put aside their hatred for one another to survive the evil onslaught of a malignant non-human race of killer beings who wish to eradicate them both and have homefield advantage. Feist and Forstchen do a great job of allowing the reader to observe the ever escalating conflict through the eyes of all three combatant leaders as the running battle rages on and keeps us on the edge wondering if the humans can reach sanctuary before their luck or their tenuous alliance finally breaks. Along the way we get insight into the thinking and and cultural motivations of all three sides. The tension is nonstop and the ending is a worthy payoff for the reader. When it's over you'll wish for more and you will read this in the shortest possible time. It's a true "just one more chapter" type of read and I highly recommend it to military action fans.

Great read. If you've read and appreciated Heinlein you HAVE to pick this up. A new work done in an old style, OMW grabs you and never lets you off the hook. The only good thing about finishing up all too soon is there is a sequel(Ghost Brigades) out already. Space opera and military fiction at it's finest!

Great action! Excellent sequel. What do you do if the galaxy's biggest threat starts lobbing planet killing asteroids at the earth?You call the marines of course. A must read for military sf fans. Pick up the first two books in the series first so you knowe who the malignant "Hunters of the Dawn" are. Semper Fi!!!!!!!!!!

Easy to read. VERY informative. If you're going to WDW you have to be armed with as much info as you can get your hands on. This book will do the job.
