I just received this book the other day -- it took me less than 24 hours to read. The book is written like a memoir, so it makes for an odd reading experience... the story is a sad one... it is completely appauling that someone can treat their child like this... but inspirational that the child survived and never gave up hope.

Excellent book about a child bounced around in foster care... it is truly inspiring how forgiving one child can be... I'm definitely hooked on this trilogy... can't wait to read part 3.

I read "A Child Called It" and "The Lost Boy"... so I felt the need to find out how things turned out. As strange as it sounds, this book allowed me to find closure from the first two books... although a lot of the story was redundant and recalled from the first two books. I understand that he wrote it so that the story could stand alone, but at times it felt a little "chaotic".

Note: While reading this book, I went to the store and found another Pelzer book (A Teenagers Story of Longing for acceptance and friendship).... The "series" wasn't written in sequence and I thought I was following it correctly... but in essence, I found out that this book is not really part 3... I guess it's part 4.

I wanted my son to have potty books so that he understood the idea and use of the potty. This book is cute... BUT... it seems like it teaches them to use the potty as a toy (like a boat, or to make sandcastles). Not the idea I wanted for my son... but for a little friendly, light-hearted book, it's cute. And the pictures are cute.

I couldn't put this book down -- I read it in 2 1/2 days and I have a 1-year old! It was just so interesting and funny. It was very easy to read and very entertaining. I highly suggest it (except to those with homophobic inklings).

I ordered this book because a lot of my friends have read it and liked it. I was warned by another PBS participant that it was hard to get into. It WAS hard to get into. The storyline was good and it was interesting to get the other side of the story... but it was so detail oriented that it felt like a lot of filler. I ended up skipping many paragraphs just to get to the meat of the story. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline.
