A good medical mystery that is not completely solved today. Well written and researched with an updated epilogue that discusses recent bird flu scares.

I had, of course, seen movies and read about the case that Capote describes. I found, however, I knew very little. Capote masterfully captures the lives of each member of the murdered family, which makes what happens to them all the more tragic. Capote paints a picture of Holcomb, Kansas, the people who lived there and the pair who drove in one night and changed a safe, rural town into a nightmare. Superbly written.

I was interested in the story. It was one I had not heard before. The writer is a news reporter and the style was somewhat different than I expected. There were also some odd misses in the editing department, the type I usually see in e-books. I did enjoy reading the book, however. It's a quick read and could have been more than "good," given the subject and the times.

Tears of the Giraffe is a beautifully written, touching story of an unusual life in Botswana. It will make you laugh and make you cry while introducing a culture that most of us know little about.

A well-written account of old San Francisco at a time when guns were used to counter insults. Yes, it's history, but it doesn't read like history. Personalities come alive and, eventually, come into conflict. A fascinating account of the times when the truth really was stranger than fiction.

I am not a mountain climber or even an athlete, but I do like to read about real women and how they overcame obstacles to succeed. And, boy, did these women overcome obstacles. Imagine climbing the highest peaks wearing a skirt. A thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, and enlightening read about individual women who pursued their dreams against all odds.

The stories of these courageous women are incredible. Restrictions placed on them by authorities at the beginning of the war, such as, prohibiting them from combat areas, were not enough to stop them. These women told stories that were not being told by others. This highly readable book tells the stories of the women behind the bylines.
