When Laurie Kenyon, a 21 year old student, is accused of murdering her English professor, she has no memory of the crime. Her fingerprints, howerver, are everywhere. When she asks her sister, attorney Sarah, to mount her defense, Sarah in turn brings in psychiatrist Justin Donnelly. Kidnapped at the age of four and victimized for two years, Laurie has developed astounding coping skills. Only when the unbearable memories of those lost years are released can the truth of the crime come out-and only then can the final sadistic plan of her abductor, whose obsession is stronger than ever, be revealed.

This book was recommended by my psychology teacher due to multiple personality traits and I enjoyed reading it, though I felt that some of the parts were a bit far-fetched to believe.

This book will give most people the "creepy" feeling while reading it that someone is staring in your window - even if you live in the middle of nowhere! Tess has the knack for writing suspensfully and reading will also make you want to keep going until you come to the very last sentence. Great book and would recommend if you haven't read her before, but start with her book, The Surgeon first.

What a good book and one that you'll find difficult to put down once you have started reading it.

The first body of a young woman, found on a Minneapolis riverbank, her throat cut, her body scourged and put on display. Whoever did this, Lucas Davenport knows, is pushed by brain chemistry. There is something wrong with him. This isn't a bad love affair.
The second body is found three weeks later, in a farm house six miles south. Same condition, same display-except this time, it is a man. Nothing to link the two victims, nothing to indicate that the killings end here. This guy.."Lucas said. He took a deep breath, let it out as a sigh. "This guy is going to bust our chops." And soon he is going to do far, far worse than that...

Patricia Cornwell's heroine Dr. Kay Scarpetta is back; this time to solve the mystery of the death of an Associated Press reporter who was killed while nosing about in a decommissioned navy yard. Scarpetta's involvement in the case leads her to be targeted for murder herself by a nasty little neo-fascist cult with delusions of grandeur that include a plan to "kill and maim, frighten, brainwash and torture" all who oppose their plan to rule the world. Helping Scarpetta is her niece Lucy, an F.B.I. agent whose computer expertise leads to a heart-stopping journey into cyberspace.

Cornwell's book is very suspenseful as she interacts with her niece, Lucy, the FBI computer guru to solve the mystery of the death. Good read.

Stephen King is one of those writers that can put feeling into each and every word and in doing so can creep you out! This is the story of Clay Riddell, who was in the heart of Boston on that brilliant autumn afternoon when hell was unleashed before his eyes. Without warning, carnage and chaos reigned. Ordinary people fell victim to the basest, most animalistic destruction. And the apocalypse began with the ring of a cell phone...
Stephen King will make you think twice about picking up your cell phone.

For twenty years FBI agent Quentin Hayes has been haunted by an unsolved murder that took place at a secluded Victorian-era resort in Tennessee when he was little more than a boy. Now part of Noah Bishop's Special Crimes Unit, he's returned to the scene of that long-ago crime to find answers.

This is a different type of murder-mystery but it kept me guessing and that's the kind of book I enjoy.

Lucas Davenport returns in the most harrowing and unexpected Prey novel yet-the story of a congenial man, and his most uncongenial obsession..
Art History professor James Qatar's hobby was taking secret photographs of women. At night when he was all alone he'd dream about them and indulge his fantasies. Then one day his fantasy went too far. Now it's Qatar's turn to become an obsession-of Davenport's. And for both men there's no turning back.

Woohoo, this book will give you a great ride if you just get on. The Lucas Davenport novels are great and this one is outstanding.

Then, in the middle of the hunt, Scully gets an idea that may cost him his life. This is a frightening book but absolutely outstanding and a must-read for any who enjoy a good who-done-it! Must have.

When his passionate romance with nurse Jocelyn Banks is cut short by her kidnapping and brutal murder, young psychologist Jeremy Carrier is left emotionally devastated, haunted by his lover's grisly demise-and eyed warily by police still seeking a prime suspect in the slaying.

To escape the pain, he buries himself in his work at City Central Hospital-only to be drawn deeper into a waking nightmare when more women turn up murdered in the same gruesome fashion as Jocelyn. As the suspicion surrounding Jeremy intensifies, the only way for him to prove his innocence and put his torment to rest is to follow the deadly trail of a modern-day Jack the Ripper.

Wow, Kellerman is such a great read. It's non-stop action in this novel of his and one that will keep you turning the pages until the last page. Do yourself a favor, and start this book when you have time to finish it.

Now Jane is running for her life. Her adoptive parents, forensic sculptor Eve Duncan and Joe Quinn, of the Atlanta PD, can't help. The FBI can't help. No one can. Except a man who may be more dangerous than those pursuing her. A smuggler, a con man, Mark Trevor had his own mysterious reasons for wanting to keep Jane safe from a relentless killer and a two-thousand-year old mystery that could rock the modern day world. For the past is returning with a vengeance that knows no mercy. The countdown has begun, and it's closer to zero than anyone thinks.

I find Iris Johansen's books to be excellent in keeping the suspense going throughout. This is in keeping with her other books, real page-turners.

Examining a badly decomposed corpse is de rigueur for forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. But puzzling damage on the body of a shooting victim, an Orthodix Jewish man, suggests this is no ordinary Montreal murder. When a stranger slips Tempe a photograph of a skelton unearthed at an archaeological site, Tempe uncovers chilling ties between the dead man and secrets long buried in the dust of Israel. Traveling there with Detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe plunges into an international mystery as old as Jesus, and centered on the controversial discover of Christ's tomb. Has a mastermind lured her into an elaborate hoax? If not, Tempe may be on the brink of rewriting two thousand years of history--if she can survive the foes dead set of buying her.

Excellent book written by Kathy Reichs, full of suspense, thrills, and especially chills. Will keep those pages turning until you come to the final one.

In his new life as a bartender at the Little Shamrock, Dismas Hardy is just hoping for a little peace. He's left both the police force and his law career behind. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to leave behind the memory of a shattering personal loss-but for the time being, he can always take the edge off with a stiff drink and a round of darts.

I had a bit of trouble keeping focused on this book, but all in all, it keeps you wanting to know more until you come to the last page.

They called him the Chameleon. A master of deception, he could disappear into crowds, ingratiate himself into the lives of women, and, one-by-one, claim them as his victims. But Sarah Hill lived to testify against him. After five years on death row, convicted serial killer Scott Corbin was finally executed by lethal injection.

.....Then why is Sarah still afraid?

The killings have resumed-copycat murders patterned on the Chameleon's grisly handiwork. Sarah believes he's back. She's seen Corbin walking the streets. And he's seen her. But if Corbin's alive, then who died at Huntsville state prison? Who's committing the murders? And who's behind the plot to use Sarah as a pawn in a devious game of revents? The answer lies in Sarah's worst nightmare-a secret underworld of crime, death, and deceit where the Chameleon may have found his ultimate disguise.

Smithdeal has written a book you won't soon forget. Did Scott Corbin slip away from prison and someone else is in his place? You'll have to read this book to find out the answer and the ending is one that you'll be unable to predict, or can you? Good Luck!

Dr. Temperance Brenna, the wry, impassioned director of forensic anthropology for the province of Quebec is driven to unravel shocking acts of violence by reading the bones of the dead.

In the year since Tempe left behind a shaky marriage in North Carolina, work has often preempted her weekend plans to explore Quebec. But when an unidentified female corpse is discovered meticulously dismembered and stashed in garbage bags, Tempe detects an alarming pattern within the grisly handiwork--and her professional detachment gives way to a harrowing search for a killer in the city's winding streets. With little help from the police, Tempe calls on her expertise, honed in the isolated intensity of the autopsy suite, to investigate on her own. But her determined chase is about to place those closest to her-her best friend and her own daughter-in mortal danger.

Reichs is able to capture forensic anthropology to a "T" because that is what she actually does. This was her first novel and I hope she continues to have Tempperance Brennan in many more novels. I would have thought that reading about forensic anthropology would have been a bit dry, but Reichs is able to convey the mystery and intensity into her writing. It is never boring, so pick this up and get reading!

Harry Lyon was a rational man, a cop who refused to let his job harden his soul. His partner urged him to surrender to the chaos of life. But Harry believed in order and reason. Then one fateful day, he was forced to shoot a man-and a homeless stranger with bloodshot eyes uttered the haunting words that challenged Harry Lyon's sanity...."Ticktock, ticktock. You'll be dead in sixteen hours...Dead by dawn....Dead by dawn....Dead by dawn...."

I thoroughly enjoy Dean Koontz and will pick up anything he writes and found this story to be compelling and a page-turner.
