Not what I expected but very well written

I was immediately engrossed in this book. Don't you love it when that happens? It delighted me so much from the beginning that I found myself telling my children about it. My 20 year old daughter looked at me in confusion & asked "Why would Ford be god?". So some of the references may be lost on Gen Z considering it was written in the time where Ford Motors was king of all companies. I suggested that maybe today's version would be Apple but she disagreed saying she didn't care about Apple. Maybe there is no modern day equivalent. In 268 pages Huxley somehow & amazingly made me sympathize then dislike then sympathize again with both Lenina & Bernard. And in the closing chapters broke my heart...twice for the same character. My only remaining question is... Is it a dystopia if only four people are unhappy? But I think that's the question we're supposed to be left with. I don't have an answer.

What a fun book!
I spent the first few chapters trying to figure out how it all connected; the robot, the poetry dinner and the title character. But about halfway through (around the time Dirk entered the story) I was enjoying the story so much I stopped worrying about the haphazard plot making sense. Adams even managed to include the bit with the couch into the ending. Bravo!
The second book is already on its way here.

A sweet story of love and magic.

This is one of my favorite books ever. The story and characters are relatable while being otherworldly. I can't go into too much detail without spoiling it. If you like fantasy & especially urban fantasy read this asap.

Quick & fun read. Positive thought is powerful but I'm not 100% sold that it's all powerful.

Not what I was expecting. Not sure what I expected though. Something more grounded in life like Cat's Cradle or Slaughterhouse Five, I guess. I understand why it's classified as science fiction now. I think science fiction is a misunderstood genre. It's about the human experience more than fantastical technology. At it's great this is about the meaning of life. Enjoyable book.
