This is a great book for the opera novice; also, if you are not a huge opera fan but enjoy going once in a while, this is perfect for you. Most operas that are currently produced are in the book, so if you are heading out to "Tosca" for instance, and have no idea what it's about, you can read a few entertaining (sometimes even gossipy) paragraphs about the history and context of the piece, and then move on to an act-by-act synopsis which gives an excellent sense of the story, characters, and musical themes you will hear, all in just a few pages.
Voila! you are now ready to enjoy the opera without peering at your program in the dark to read the plot summary, while simultaneously trying to figure out what on earth "E lucevan le stelle" means in English.
("The stars were shining brightly.")

Book of paper dolls of President Lyndon Johnson, his wife, two daughters and their husbands. Outfits include those worn campaigning, to the inaugural ball, casual outfits worn at their Texas ranch, and the wedding outfits of both the daughters, who were both married from the White House.
Six dolls, twenty-six costumes included. Dolls and costumes are printed on card stock, to be cut out by hand; not perforated. Historical details of the Johnsons' lives and LBJ's presidency included, as well as detailed descriptions of the clothing and the occasions on which they were worn.

This fabulous oversized paperback edition includes ALL of the Lucia books and all of Miss Mapp in one volume. It's an absolute essential, but I can't imagine anyone giving up their copy, so probably it will never be posted.

1930's British romance, with a horse-racing setting. Reads like a 1930's movie!

Very interesting 1930's Depression-era romance.

This was great. I'm not much of a political thriller reader but the writing is so good and the young clerk point-of-view is so interesting that I was hooked. "Zero Game" by Meltzer is fantastic, too.

Fascinating 1930's Depression-era romance, gives an interesting window into a time when women were finding more satisfaction in the workplace, and having difficulty reconciling that with what society expected of a married woman.
