I loved this book! It's a little like Alice Hoffman's writing with a little less magic, but it's a beautiful story, beautifully written.

I tried, but never really liked this book. The characters are shallow, predictable and stereotypical. It's very politically correct (to the point of being annoying), but at the same time the "help" are all black ... just didn't like it.

I finished this about a week ago and honestly I still don't know if I loved it or hated it. But I am still thinking about it. It's strange and horrible, but has some really magical passages, as well.
