My first foray into HP Lovecraft. Writing style is something to get use to and the vocabulary is advanced. Once I got past the first few stories things started to flow. Loved the stories. This is not your blood and guts horror, its cleaner and more descriptive. Definitely creepy and the imagination behind the stories is great. Lovecraft builds a lot of the stories around a small town in New England that leaves an air of melancholy. I'm going to read the Dream Cycle next.

My first foray into steampunk. Honestly,it was ok. I wasnt prepared for the 'love' story. First half of the book I found to be a bit slow. Second half, the story started to cruise. I was satisfied how it ended. I am on the fence about reading the second installment.

I got this book to give H.P. a try. Honestly I just could not get into it. I read 5 or 6 of the stories and out of those I liked The Alchemist. I did not find the few I read all that creepy or scary. Don't get me wrong, the writing and vocabulary is difficult at times but at the same time fantastic. Just not for me.

Fun, Fun, Fun. Good story , nothing like the TV series. was going to let my daughter read it but some of the content was a bit much for a thirteen year old. The torture of the main character did not have to go on that long. Editing was shoddy. Wont stop me from reading the next one though.
