I normally really like Sarah MacLean & believe me, I'm no prude, but the generous use of the F word practically every other page was so off putting that I gave up on the book after about 100 pages. I get the picture, these brothers grew up in the slums but it was completely overdone. Hope her next one is better.

This was a definite disappointment compared to Ms. Henley's previous efforts. The characters weren't really fleshed out & it seemed like it was just dashed off to meet a deadline.

A friend sent me this book & I haven't read it because I prefer historicals. But I can say that this author is one of my favorites in the historical romance genre.

I am a big fan of Liz Carlyle but I must say this book was a bit of a disappointment. You get the impression that she read Fifty Shades of Grey & decided to adapt elements (sex scenes) to a historical format. I found myself flipping past them to get back to the story which was OK but a little trite.

The book was well written and a compelling read but Fleur, the main character, was definitely not a nice person! In the Shopoholic series, Becky may be silly & somewhat superficial but she does have a good heart. Fleur unfortunately is so self absorbed that she doesn't seem to really care for anyone, even her own daughter. Her upbringing may explain some of her behaviour &, at least at the end, she seemed to be trying to turn her life around but she wasn't someone for whom I rooted throughout the book.
