It's great to read about another character in Lucas Davenport's life. John Sandford creates a likeable character and he is believable without being corny. Really good mystery, in the Lucas Davenport genre.

This is an excellent 4th book in the series. I really love these characters, and you learn more about the Gods that they are always referring to in this one. Daine learns more about her abilities and trusts in herself more. She has grown into a young lady, and starts to realize this. The characters are vivid as usual and the story is imaginitive. I really loved this series.

Excellent start to a triology of fantasy books. I'm not usually a sci-fi fantasy reader,
but this book truly sucked me in. The King is definitely the good guy and you come to like him quickly. The story is not all happiness and wonderment. It is very believable and a great read. I will definitely read the next two. The writing is uncomplicated and easy to read. Daine becomes the character you want to cheer for.

I loved this book! It is set in the early 1900's when people were immigrating to the US and starting their life over or anew. The characters are rich and many layered.
The trials and the work ethic of the people is inspirational. This author is descriptive in a way that is not overly done. There is love, death, suspense and all of the good things a novel should have.

This book is an excellent fast read. Maggie learns more about magick in this book, and becomes more comfortable with her newfound knowledge of witches and the earth's energy.
She is becoming quite the mystery solver. I really enjoyed this book.
