I had forgotten how wonderful these books are! Four carefully chosen books in one volume. I ordered it because it contained "Dearly Beloved" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I absolutely loved "Ring of Bright Water" by Gavin Maxwell. I learn something from all books and this one is stuffed with great reading material.

An astounding tale from a gifted writer. Virginia Lanier creates a character, Jo Beth, that you'll wish you could drop in on for some southern chit chat and a glass of ice tea.

An interesting read. I first read an article in a magazine quoting his mother. I wonder how much of this book is autobiographic? At times I felt like it was a train wreck waiting to happen, because the article mentioned his young demise. It won a Pulitzer Prize and the only other thing he ever wrote was "The Neon Bible" when he was just 16.

What a gifted writer! To have begun her career in her 60's and produced such a body of extremely believable work is quite an accomplishment. I wish she had a longer life whether she continued to write or not.

If SEP wrote 50 books a year, I'd read every one! I laugh, I cry, I enjoy. This one doesn't disappoint.

I read incessantly. I have books by my bed, books in my kitchen nook, books by my favorite chair etc. etc. I usually read a chapter or two of 3 or 4 books a day but I couldn't put this book down. Enjoyed every moment I spent with this author.

A raw, emotional accounting of Charles Bronson's wifes' struggle with cancer. She fit a lot of life into her good times.

I enjoy everything Miss Evanovich writes. This was a fun read about an area I'd love to visit, snowy Alaska. What woman hasn't dreamed of being stranded in a remote cabin in a snow covered world..............

A favorite author's personal essays on HOME. I enjoyed every one, even the ones I didn't relate to.

If you're a dog person and into professional training, you'll enjoy this insight into the inner workings. I could imagine each adorable creature with her descriptions.

A must read. I had read Cold Mountain years ago. Don't know why it took me this long to look for anything else he may have written. Kept me riveted to every page.

Four terrific stories in one perfect size book. Both my husband and I read all four. My husband carried it with him to appointments, to make waiting more enjoyable. The stories were each different enough to, indeed, make it seem like you're reading four separate books, which in fact, you are.

One of those books you get into so deeply, you lose yourself and become the fictional character. From beginning to end, (and everything ends), a very satisfying read.

Fun read for all us "junking" girls. Great location in shady Savannah. Hated for it to end!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read a lot and find most books predictable. Not this one! After reading it, I carried it around in my tote, ready to read excerpts to anyone that would listen. I've run out of friends to read to, please read this book....you can thank me later!

Unbelievably realistic story about an unusual topic. the exact reason I read, to broaden my horizons. This is a must read!

This series of books just get better & better. You don't have to read them in order, although I'd recommend that you do. Lanier does a good job of bringing the reader up to date on characters, etc. so that each book can stand alone. There are many exciting adventures & mysteries in each book. The reading public is lucky to have had this writer if only for a decade or so. Rest in peace, Virginia.

What a treasure of a little book, with such magical treasures inside. I lived on the island with the characters of the book.

I love Christmas themed books and I especially loved this one because it's fifteen relatively short stories. It was a pleasure picking up this book when I found a slice of time, and reading just one story. I'm gathering everything I can find of this beloved author.
