I'm absolutely puzzled by the negative reviews here. I LOVED this book--the imagery, language, themes, and storylines were completely engaging and woven in ways that required actual participatory thought to absorb. Some passages demanded a reread simply for the sake of savoring the inventive images of things that are not often well described. If those elements of a read have no appeal, this is not the book for you, but if life through the eyes of an articulate author piques your interest, "Tinkers" is its own reward.
