Band of Brothers is written in the fully-researched and detailed signature style of Steven E. Ambrose and yet read likes a novel. I've grown to respect and admire this Band of Brothers as I learn about their heroic deeds and accomplishments that were integral to winning WWII.

Blue Like Jazz offers thoughts on what it means to be a Christian without the traditional "do this/don't do that" Christian message. For those who are disillusioned with "church", or for those who are seeking a meaningful relationship with Christ, Donald Miller offers hope and encouragement.

The author brings to life, through human interaction and intense dialogue, the historical interactions between the three great powers in the world as WWII is coming to a close. This book is based on the real events of the Yalta conference, but is infused with personal thoughts and motives of Churchill. it gives us an insight into the struggles Churchill faced and that all great men are indeed just men and must make difficult decisions that will affect the course of history.

Ambrose tells the story of the American soilder from D-Day to Berlin in an engaging and comprehensive way. Easy to follow and complete with first-hand accounts, this is one of the best books written about WWII in Europe.

Well-written and carefully laid out, this book brings to life not only the tension of the decisions needed to be made concerning WWII, but the personalities of both Churchill and Roosevelt. This book is a perfect choice for those who want to understand more about the relationship between England and America in the years leading up to and during the war.

A thorough account of one of the least talked about stories of WWII. A great tribute to some of the forgotten heroes of WWII.

I really liked this story. It wove the tragic story of the siege of Leningrad within a modern day issue. It handled the subject of Alzheimer's with grace and insight. A beautiful picture of strength and grace.

A must read for all Americans. Even this many years after the abolishment of slavery, the story of Frederick Douglass serves as an important reminder of the true meaning of freedom and the value of all human life.

Not as compelling as his first memoir, Angela's Ashes, but still a great follow up. Masterful storyteller.

A unique perspective on a part of America's history. The social and racial interactions of one family as told from the perspective of a child. Many important messages are at the heart of this story.

This book has helped me regain my intimacy with God. As Christians, we forget that God longs to be intimate with us and cares about all the details of our lives. John's honest account of his daily talks with God helped me to open up to God about my deepest fears and struggles in order to allow God in and His peace to reassure me that I am not in this life alone. Great read as a daily devotional guide or as a sit down in one or two sittings. Definitely a keeper!
