"Highlander Ever After" by Jennifer Ashley is the third book in a trilogy. I did not realize that the book was the third in a trilogy until I was quite far into the book. I prefer to read books in sequence but I did find that this book could easily be read without having read the other two books. Having read this book, though, I WANT to read the first two books. I enjoyed that the book had a little bit of a paranormal aspect to it but it was not overpowering - just enough to add some interest. The characters were well-developed, including many of the minor characters. I adored Egan and found myself wishing that my husband would wear a kilt around the house! My two favorite minor characters were the half-Logosh (shape-shifter) Valentin and Mary - I am hoping they might have their own book in the future. Throughout the book, there are several steamy scenes which I thought were tastefully done and exciting. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys romances with a strong, Scottish main character and a slight paranormal twist.

I truly enjoyed Johnny Tremain which was a 1944 Newbery Award winning book. This book is historical fiction, set during the beginning of the American Revolution. The weaving in of historical figures such as Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock was quite interesting and lended a great deal of authenticity to the book. The build-up of tension in the colonies to the point of the first battle of the American Revolution was quite intense.
Johnny Tremain is also a wonderful story about the transition of an arrogant, self-centered boy into a sensitive teenager. Johnny Tremain is the apprentice to a silversmith and he is far and away one of the best silversmith apprentices in the area. He is also attractive, strong, and intelligent. The combination of gifts in his life make him overly proud and often unkind to those around him.
Due to a practical joke that goes horribly wrong, Johnny loses the use of his right hand for any kind of detail work. Therefore, all of his dreams of becoming a silversmith are destroyed. The challenges he encounters as he deals with his new limitations and the kind and evil people he meets combine to slowly change Johnny's personality for the better.
I highly recommend the book to anybody who enjoys excellent historical fiction.

I loved this book! Janet Chapman is definitely my new favorite paranormal romance author. I would recommend reading all of her "Highlander" series first before reading this book, which is the start of a new series. Although, "Moonlight Warrior" can stand alone, the majority of the characters were taken from the "Highlander" books. I have only read the first book in that series so far and I enjoyed the references to the characters in that book. Reading this book was like visiting old friends. The character development in this book was excellent. I adored the loving relationship the main character, Eve, had with her mother, Mabel. Mabel is slowly losing touch with the world through dementia and much of the book concerns Eve's struggles to come to terms with her mother's illness. I also loved the gradual development of the love relationship between Kenzie and Eve. Add in a man who is a dragon because he thinks he is a dragon, magic, an ancient wizard, magic pens, evil spirits, and an ancient soul warrior (that used to be a panther) and you have a great book! I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys paranormal romances.

I am working my way through the remainder of Janet Chapman's Highlander books. I recently finished "Only With a Highlander." Janet Chapman is one of my very favorite romance novelists. Her books are just SO COZY. Cozy cabins, cozy fireplaces, and devastatingly handsome Scottish men. Add in a bit of magic, tender family relationships, a great love story...and you have a Janet Chapman Highlander romance novel. I've been reading the Highlander series in order and I highly recommend it. While the books do stand alone, the characters are continued from one book to another and are set in different time periods. The Highlander books in reading order up to this book are:
Charming the Highlander
Loving the Highlander
Wedding the Highlander
Tempting the Highlander
Only With a Highlander
While I did enjoy this book, I did not enjoy it as much as I have the rest of the books in the series. I had two main problems with this book. The first was that I never felt like I really got to know the male lead, Matthew Gregor. The second problem was that I never really understood WHY mankind was doomed because of Matt's actions. Having said that, I did like the book and I found the ending satisfying. There was even a twist at the end that surprised me.
For those that like to know, the book did have several "intimate" scenes, though all but one took place after Matt and Winter were married. The scenes were relatively mild, with no bad language.

"Tempting the Highlander" is the 4th book in Janet Chapman's Pine Creek Highlander series. I highly recommend reading the series in order, as the entire family's story unfolds and characters from previous books are mentioned throughout. Janet Chapman is one of my favorite romance authors. Her books always leave me with a smile on my face. After reading one of her Pine Creek books, I always wish that I could be part of the MacKeage clan. In this book, the focus is on Robbie MacBain (a guardian) and his time-travel adventures to save his extended family. Caught up in the magic that surrounds Pine Creek is Catherine, a woman on the run from her abusive ex-husband with her two small children. Catherine and her children come to live and work as his housekeeper in Robbie MacBain's house with his four male teenage foster children. Robbie quickly grows to love Catherine but Catherine has to let go of her troubled past, along with her fears, before she can commit to a relationship with Robbie.
The relationships among the characters are quite tender, particularly the growing friendships between the foster boys and Catherine's children. I highly recommend this book to anybody who enjoys paranormal romance.

This is a lovely book with adorable photographs throughout. It is perfect for a toddler. Each two page spread features a different color with a toddler on one side and photographs of objects in that color on the other side.
