light-hearted with endearing characters.

i've read the first 3 in this series & look forward to reading the rest. the characters are at times humorous, but their lives are not a fairy tale. partial romance, but family issues guide the story.

too much uninteresting information included. the first half of the book could have been edited down to include about 1/2 of the descriptions. the last 2 chapters were much better. the book ended leaving the reader (me) w/questions. e.g., why wasn't his house sold after his death?, why the author didn't recover all of his belongings from the home?, how long it took the author to finish his employment w/freddie's estate, what his next job was.
worth reading if you like descriptive books & the author probably supplies experiences others weren't privy to.

the second half of the book has many hysterical stories. he's refreshingly honest about his limitations as a handy man. it's meant to be inspirational reading but it's much more than that!

thought provoking stories. our women's church group read a chapter at each meeting & it gave us discussion topics about ourselves & the world. it's not only for group reading.

this story was funny & educational. there were times i was laughing until i cried. it also describes accurately how difficult it is to be able to afford health care & how hard it is to get assistance when your life is falling apart due to illness or injury. i wish every one of our congressional representatives had to read this book. the story is never maudlin & written in a light hearted manner, but has a valuable story that needs to be told.

this book is more like a music lesson than an autobiography. his experience being in the "pirate" movie amounted to a few paragraphs. he refers to his fathers' death after the fact. maybe die hard stones fans will like it.

I've read many self-help books. this one is excellent! an easy read w/life examples. informative & practical.

this is a work of fiction. as a torey hayden fan i was disappointed. the story itself was interesting. the ending was very disappointing. it ruined the entire book for me.

i've read a lot of autobiographies & this one is the most candid. he doesn't allude to relationships, if he had one w/a starlet it's in the book. if he had issues or a fall-out w/someone, it's in here.

if you loved "the secret garden" as a child this book will be disappointing. it is very much an "adult" book. if it wasn't about colin, mary & dickon it would be a great novel. i just never expected them to grow up to be the people they are in this book.

this book has graphic murder scenes in it. if that doesn't bother you then you'll enjoy it. a very suspenseful, imaginative mystery.

very quick read, was a little confused about the time in the book, if the two relationships overlapped. all in all a good story.

An engaging story of his life. Great lessons on living and motivation! You don't need to be a fan of his or of Dancing with the Stars to enjoy this book.

if you're a fan of kathy griffin & "my life on the d-list" this book is for you! the dialogue between kathy & maggie & some of the stories are laugh out loud funny. there is some actual wisdom relayed in her story-telling, but this book is definitely tops for humor

while the author does give some "inside" information, the amount of writing about judy garland & rock hudson is not enough to warrant reading the book. if your interest is old hollywood & the studios, it would be an ok read.
