Showcases a great variety of applique techniques. Good pictures and examples. I'm not into the designs, but I'll keep this book as a good reference for whenever I want to try something different with applique.

This book is geared towards costume designing as a profession. It doesn't have many pictures of costumes or much information about making costumes. If you want to know how to budget for plays, set up a workroom or deal with places that supply costumers, then this book is for you. If you wanted to learn how to make costumes, then look elsewhere.

I only recently discovered this author through this series. Her world building is excellent and her characters are vivid and real. Having a necromancer as a good guy is refreshing and very plausible given how her world works. I'm very glad I found this series since I hadn't read anything new in this genre in a while.
I am reading her other books as well. She has more books based in this world and books with other worlds. I found a gold mine!

This story definitely has the feel of a folktale, a genre which I really enjoy reading. I found it first as an anime show on the Cartoon Network, but they only showed the first 10 episodes of the anime series made from this first book, so I had to read the book to find out what happened in the end. I hope the rest of the episodes are eventually shown in English, since the anime series was completed in Japan.
I'm really looking forward to reading more of this book series when they are published in English. If you're interested in Japanese fantasy, I've also been reading The Twelve Kingdoms novels, which is being translated from Japanese, too. The first two volumes are out now, with the third due in March 2009. It's been done as an anime as well, with 45 episodes available on DVD, in English.

The story line is getting darker, but with the lead characters growing older, it works fine. I love this series and have enjoyed listening to the audiobook version.

A charming YA story that I'm glad I found. I love Anne McCaffrey's writing!

If you're interested in the classic Round Robin style of friendship quilt, this book contains the patterns for one group's quilts.

This is a sequel to The Shadow Queen. I liked how the main character continued to grow and change, with the help of her circle. She still has her flaws, but she is a better person and a more capable queen than she thought she was able to be.

This book covers the fascinating history of signature quilts, showing great examples of vintage signature quilts. It has patterns for a number of projects that can be made with the traditional patchwork and applique blocks provided. I waited a long time for this book to turn up and I'm really glad I finally got a copy!

Beautiful color photos of kimonos! A feast for the eyes.

This is the weakest book in this series. I'm not giving up on the series, because I love the characters, but I'm going to be very sad if the next book isn't better than this one.

This is a short story collection, like Dreams Made Flesh, so some of the stories are better than others. But I have to say, I cried when I read the High Lord's Daughter and it's my favorite of the collection. Next is Shades of Honor, then Family and last is Winsol Gifts.
I'm a fan of the Dark Jewels series, so I've followed all these characters in their adventures for many years. I hope Anne Bishop will continue to write stories in this world!
