A charming children's book, not large (6 pp) but a happy story by Marta Beroska and beautiful art by Janusz Oblucki. The google eyes go thru every page and are fun to shake. A vocabulary builder.

Imagine a world in which alchemy, the carefully manipulated power of the elemental harmonies, has made interstellar flight a reality. Humanity thrives, with variations, on numerous far-flung worlds. Earth is little more than a legend, a planet lost during the Millenium Wars. Silence Leigh is a rarity, a female starship pilot. The three books of this volume, Five-twelfths of Heaven, Silence in Soltude, and The Empress of Earth, are her story, and Earth's.
Fascinating from the first page of the first book. Melissa Scott created a fully populated universe for this series, and a heroine who grows in talent as she defies and circumvents the male-oriented civilizations on several planets.

For sci-fi and fantasy readers, and especially for fans of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser, an excellent collection of stories.
