I was captured by Jane's discoveries about herself and marital relationships to such an extent that I almost forgot about the mystery that was being solved. I found myself scanning through the details of the clues as Elzada uncovered them to find out what was on Jane's mind next. When the mystery was solved I was already satisfied with Jane's ending, so I was able to enjoy it most.

This was a nice collection of fun and interesting historical stories about events at the Grand Canyon. I think you will find it entertaining and useful for background information on the Canyon.

I enjoyed this book. It was part two of the story of the Irish hero that I came to know through reading Trinity. Trinity blew me away so I had to see what happened next, but I did find myself becoming impatient as the author would often reiterate scenes that I already knew from the first book. I admit I skimmed over a few of those sections. I'm not sure if it was the captivating way that the story was written, or learning for the first time of the shocking history of Ireland and the brutally unfair treatment of its people, but I will not forget these two books. Uris did a great job of using this story to dramatically capture the essence of that time and place.

Although it started off a bit slow, now that I have read the whole book I realize the importance of setting up the opening scene so that the reader will have a vivid sense of the setting as the story gets really good. I learned the interesting and unfair history of Ireland from this book in a way that I could never appreciate from a history book. I am grateful that it was recommended to me and that I was able to have the experience of reading this unforgettable story. Uris made me believe in the hero's cause and feel the injustices done to Ireland's people as if I was one of them. If you like this book you will want to also read Redemption.
