Agatha Raisin and the Potted Gardener (Agatha Raisin, Bk 3) (Unabridged Audio CD)
Review Date: 8/18/2009

This was my first experience with Agatha Raisin, and I chose the audio version. It was a truly enjoyable, lighthearted cozy mystery. Agatha Raisin is a delightful character - an independent, very opinionated, successful woman who also shares the same self-doubts as anyone. I want to get to know her better, so I'll be choosing more from this series.

The Best of Birds & Blooms 2006 (The most useful tips and ideas from the past year)
Review Date: 1/12/2010

Love this entire series - it's like having an entire year of the magazine in one binding, and it's so much nicer on a bookshelf. Great photos and lots and lots of good information on birds, butterflies and gardening.

A Cat Named Brat (Alice Nestleton Mysteries (Audio))
Review Date: 12/9/2007

I listened to this in audio, and it was a little hard to get into in the beginning. I believe this was primarily due to the reader's voice. But it didn't take long to get caught up in the mystery and found it to have a delightful surprise ending.

Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life, 8-CD set: Living the Wisdom of the Tao
Review Date: 7/28/2009
Helpful Score: 1

I have never had an audiobook by Wayne Dyer that I did not enjoy, and this one is no exception. You are taken through the Tao Te Ching verse by verse with Wayne's interpretation of how to apply this ancient wisdom to our own modern lives. The similarities of our modern society to the people Lao Tzu was addressing over 2500 years ago are striking. You are asked to take the verses one at a time and spend several days in contemplation of them. Exercises are given to apply the wisdom to your own life, or to "do the Tao now". I couldn't wait and listened to the CDs in their entirety in about a week, often going back and listening a second or third time to a single section. This audiobook will be with me for quite awhile as it is one that I'll be listening to over and over in my attempt to incorporate at least some of the principles into my own life.

You'll enjoy the wit and humor of author Don Aslett, if you never get up off the couch to put any of his MANY ideas into action. But this is also a book that starts you thinking and may prevent you from making some future mistakes when deciding if something is worth dragging into your home to claim valuable space on a shelf, in a closet, under the bed, or piled in a corner.

The Herbalist's Garden : A Guided Tour of 10 Exceptional Herb Gardens: The People Who Grow Them and the Plants That Inspire Them
Review Date: 7/1/2009

So much more than a coffee table book, though that's where you'll want to keep this beautiful book. Very interesting stories of several individuals and couples who have devoted their lives to making a living from their herb businesses. Beautiful photos and lots of helpful info for the home gardener as well. Diagrams are included of each of the individual gardens. I won't be parting with my copy anytime soon.

Mrs. Greenthumbs Plows Ahead : Five Steps to the Drop-Dead Gorgeous Garden of Your Dreams
Review Date: 8/27/2008

Cassandra Danz has a delightful way of bringing humor to gardening. This is a fun read whether you ever make it out to your yard or not. This is not your typical how-to book but a great read during those winter months when you're psyching yourself up for spring.

This book contains beautiful and unique designs. There is a wide array of nature themed subjects from creatures you would find in your garden (bees, butterflies, frogs and lizards) to jungle and aquatic animals and fish. The paper is a nice weight. So far, I've used colored pencils and gel pens with nice results. I'm not a huge fan of mandalas but this is one book I hope to complete from from the first page to the last.

Richard Simmons has a way of inspiring. This book contains the stories of individuals he has helped through the years. Most of us who have battled weight, to whatever degree, can find a piece of our own story somewhere within these pages. This is not a diet book - but stories of people who helped themselves by getting their eating under control.

I really enjoyed this first book in this series and can't wait to read number two. A light read in the cozy genre about a powerful young witch, Lily, who is just learning to find happiness with a new set of friends in her new San Francisco home. While I would not have expected to be endeared to a demon, Oscar, Lily's new familiar, is such a sweet entity.

Enjoyed this first book in the series and look forward to reading the next. Really liked that the story centers around the very current topics of organic farming, the locavore movement, CSAs, as well as controversial issues surrounding immigration. This is a light, cozy mystery that will appeal to those who dream of a simpler life of fresh air, fresh food, good friends, a touch of romance, and mysteries to unravel.
