This was the worst book so far in the series. Totally skip-able. The premise is good, but he repeats himself constantly. The whole story could have been told in a few chapters. I understand character development but there wasn't anything new or refreshing along the way. He is becoming predictable with evil taking hostage of an innocent and Kathlan or Richard are fighting to be near each other. All is worked out in the final chapter.

The good thing is this book isn't as oppressive as some of the others.

Short book for sooo much to happen! Farland is either very shrewed or foolish. His plot keeps twisting and this book just creates more sub plots. I am hopeful that his ability to create despair, will show JOY equally in his next book. It is the end of the series, right?
