Wonderful book! The Wherlocke family and their kin are gifted with unusual abilities. Penelope can see spirits. Don't worry though, it's not a far-fetched ghost story! I can't wait to read about other family members and their special abilities!

As a massage therapist myself, I was interested to see how accurate the author would be using massage therapy in the story. I must say, she was accurate in that aspect as I could suspect it would be in that time period. However, having read thousands of books, most of them Regencies, I feel that Ms. Moore certainly needs more practice at her writing skills. One part comes to mind. When the hero's mother asks Emeline to call her "Mary", Emeline proceeds to do so after every sentence. "Would you like a cup of tea, Mary?" Thank you ever so much Mary." "Lovely bonnet Mary." Delicious cakes, Mary." I don't believe this was a comedic character flaw on Emeline's part, but a writing error on the author's. There was also the standard "trip over something and end up in the hero's arms on the bed" scene which really had no place being where it was because the couple's attraction had already been established and they had already kissed a couple of times.
If you can overlook those bothersome areas, the story was pretty good. A nice quick read. This was an e-book which has been bound and signed by the author to someone named Mindy.

Lord Darlington's sole purpose in acknowledging his former acquaintance with Miss Fairchild had been motivated from politeness and a vague recollection that she had been a personable young lady. He had meant only to exchange a few civilities before going on his way. Now, however, his sometimes perverse sense of humor had gotten in the way. The music was drawing to a close, and soon another gentleman might appear to claim her. Certain that he could irritate Mr. Crocker further, he turned to Miss Fairchild. "Will you honor me with the next set, Miss Fairchilde?"
She appeared astonished. "Why-Why, of course, my lord! I shall like it very much."
(Excerpt from book. Very good story!)

I really liked this book! It's a time-travel story, but even if you're not partial to them, I think you will like this one. Cassandra Kelley, a romance novel editor, ends up in Regency England and meets a Marquess who is into science. Together they work to keep her secret and to get her back to the present and of course fall in love during the way. Very well written, with her usual humor by one of my favorite authors.

Witch Child - the secret diary of fourteen year old Mary Newbury, begins as she flees the English witch hunts to start a new life. How long will she be accepted into a new colony? Will she need to keep running from the suspicions of closed minded and superstitious people?

I found this book engrossing from the start and found it very hard to put down. Once I did, I was quick to order it's sequel "Sorceress", another page-turner.
