This book as some very good information in it HOWEVER, there are some little bits of poison scattered throughout. For instance, to say that God pushed a woman into madness because she was unsubmissive and being the spiritual ruler of her home is just WRONG!! If God made every woman who did this insane, we'd have millions of insane women in this world! The pride and arrogance of the Pearls came through strongly as well (I speak from first hand experience--not just what I've "heard" about them). A woman who is firmly grounded could get some good stuff from this book (though if she's firmly grounded she probably already has most if not all of this), but I would strongly recommend against giving this book to new or weak Christians.

This book is the sequel to Ms. Arnold's classic "Not My Will". Very well written. I highly recommend this book.

This is one of the best books I have ever read, bar none. That's saying a lot, because I'm an avid reader with a wide variety of interests. I think every woman should read this book at least once a year.

I cried. There aren't many books out there that have made me cry--not just get choked up, but actually cry! I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into this book, but I loved it. I loved the quiet humility of Aaron. He knew what he was and what God had saved him from and was thankful for it. I especially loved that he quietly, but firmly talked about his salvation. I have noticed a disturbing trend in religious fiction to talk vaguely about 'meeting' God, finding peace, having an emotional experience, etc but never actually saying "Christ saved me!". Personally, I think it's just authors trying to be politically correct and not offend anyone. I am glad Mr. Walsh didn't have such qualms. Aaron wasn't pushy--he just quietly stated the fact of what happened to him.
I really enjoyed Karen and Dave's story. I enjoyed the fact that they were 40-somethings. My sister was just recently married (yes, for the first time!) at 42, so I appreciated Karen being older and never married with Dave a widower.
I could go on and on about the things I liked in this book. Suffice it to say, this was a well-written, thoroughly enjoyable book that I would recommend to others. I won this book and two others through FaithDeployed.com. One is another Dan Walsh book. I can't wait to read and review it! Mr. Walsh set the bar high in this book. I hope he keeps it up!!

I had high hopes for this book. New Zealand is a place I've always wanted to go. The descriptions of New Zealand scenes, flora, fauna, etc were really good. However, the rest of the book was a different story. The man is supposed to be talking about Paradise, but there was an overall negativity to the book that really bothered me. On top of that, not only is the author obviously a serious liberal with resulting views thereof (pro Socialist healthcare, anti parents rights, etc.), but there was a very egocentric feel to the book. At one point I felt that if he wrote the word "intellectual" one more time I was ready to scream! Though he may not have come out and called himself a great intellecual, there was the feeling throughout the book that he really feels himself so much better/smarter than most people. I mean, seriously, you go to visit Sir Edmund Hillary taking as a gift books that you wrote?!? In fact, he mentions multiple times that he has written many books. Many times I wanted to shout out "Shut up about yourself--tell me about New Zealand!!!!" Even when talking about how wonderful NZ is, he still is very strong on what he considers it's negative points. I guess there was just an overall feeling of him talking down to/about everyone and everything. I enjoyed the descriptions, but they didn't make up for the sheer irritating arrogance of the writer.

Wonderful classic tale of shipwreck and perserverance. I highly recommend this for all kids--old and young. :-)

This is a classic children's book, but I'm glad I read it before giving it to my young girls to read. I was shocked to discover a swear word in the very first chapter!! Therefore, I would not recommend this book at all.
