This book is based on the real lives of an American socialite, a doctor who performed terrible operations in a concentration camp during WWII, and the women upon who she operated. Excellent read.

Very well written. Nice balance of information about Zimbabwe and personal story of Neely as correspondent and family life in challenging circumstances. Best book I've read in quite a while!

This is a book that speaks to our present political doings, as well as the time period in which it was written. Excellent!

I like Elizabeth Berg! This is my second favorite of her books (first is All Are Welcome Here) Well written, good story line, and she's not afraid to tackle tough situations. Had to read this straight through, into the wee hours of morning.

My favorite Picoult book. I learn so much from reading her books - she does a great job researching medical facts. Very real characters - a fantastic read.

I was sorely disappointed. A friend had told me that the movie was wonderful, so I read the book all of the way through, hoping it would get better. It was very poorly written. Dialogue was repetitive, and the characters were shallow.

Wow! This book made me want to read MORE of Berg. I'm putting all of her books on my wish list. Based on a true story, this book is about how an amazing woman and her equally amazing daughter deals with a disability. Well written - I re-read it 2 times.
