Money changes everything and when Jenner Redwine wins the lottery, she loses her best friend, finds out her dad stole from her and has to find new friends among the moneyed elite. While on a special cruise, she is held captive and has to balance her feelings for her captor and his friends, her fear for her friend held captive off the boat and her growing need to help her captor. Wonderful, fast read.

I am really enjoying this series. I read it out of order (just finished book 1), but I like the heroine, the story premises and would LOVE to visit the town. The characters are interesting.

I enjoyed this book very much -- especially for the first in the series. I like the characters, the settings and the mystery involved. I am fascinated by the Amish -- to maintain their religion and beliefs in our world has to be so difficult. I also think the premise is interesting -- I wouldn't want to be the one having to live a life acceptable enough to the Amish where fathers will let their wives and daughters work for me or let me sell their products! I have already ordered book 2 and am looking forward to reading it!

This is a great series for lovers of historical novels, strong searching characters. Emily is a recent widow who stumbles into mysteries. The writer does a great job of letting the characters develop while keeping the series moving. These books are keepers and I have been sharing them with friends. You will enjoy :)

I really enjoy Charlaine Harris's books. She is more well known for the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I enjoy the others (Teagarden; Shakespeare; Grave). This book is about a young lady who feels she can only be loved if she will sleep with almost anyone who asks. Lily Bard is a cleaning lady with an injured past who helps solve her murder while trying to stay disattached from the people around her. It is part of a great series about a small town and the people in it.

Book had an interesting premise and I liked the greek family dynamics. As the first book in the series, it did not pull me in as much as I would have thought. I would read book 2, but am not rushing to order the rest of the books until I see if book 2 is better.

I really liked this book. The story of a woman in early 1900's who wasn't happy with her normal path (marriage arranged by her new stepmother) and left with a typewriter to go to San Francisco to start a new life. I liked the scenes, the people she met, the clothes described, etc. THis book was well written, entertaining and I can't wait to read book 2

I really enjoyed this book -- it popped up as an "other people got this" when I looked at another book. It is amazing that he would even try to solve a mystery that was so old, but cool that he could find so much information! Definitely recommend.
