From the back cover: He is an American, a patriot... and a disciplined commando trained to infiltrate and destroy. But a war game gone awry has turned Sergeant Mark Stitzer into a haunted victim of his own madness, a walking instrument of death. Now he is on his own mission-- a mission of vengeance, a journey into hell.

Hunted by the men who trained him, lured by the one person he trusts, he prowls the city, as stealthy as an animal on its own killing grounds. No one-- not the police, not the FBI, not the U.S. Army-- know how to stop him... and no one can predict the terror he is about to unleash.

From the back cover: Toby was on top of it. "You're Eleanor Roosevelt." "I know," she answered. "I'm afraid you will have to do a bit better than that if you are to convince me of your skills."

Toby Peters had worked with all the Hollywood greats-- Mae West, Bela Lugosi, Flynn, Groucho, Cooper-- but he never expected to find the First Lady sitting in his office (the one he shares with Sheldon Minck, the less than antiseptic dentist). But she was there, and she had a problem: Someone had kidnapped Fala, FDR's prize Scotty, and left an imposter in the Oval Office...

Toby sets out to prove to Eleanor Roosevelt that he can, indeed, do better than simply recognizing her, but there are elements loose on the streets who plan to keep Toby from enjoying any fireside chats... even if it means murder.

Helping Toby work his way through a maze of dead bodies, dirty deals (old and new), and right-wing fanatics are Buster Keaton, Sheldon Minck, Jeremy Butler-- as comfortable with a headlock as a sonnet, and Toby's best friend, the Swiss midget Gunther Werthman.

With a team like that awake, wouldn't you sleep well tonight?

Few Die Well

Book Type: Paperback

Review Date: 6/26/2006

From the back cover: They were the Bulldogs. A platoon of helicopter gunship pilots stationed along the west border, a few klicks from Cambodia and Laos. Their names were Danly, Bookman, Barnes, Spradling, Gray, and Winters. And for all their differences, for better or worse, they were a team.

The Bulldogs flew killing missions against an invisible enemy, several times a day, almost every day.

And some of them-- the lucky ones-- even made it home.

Powerfully dramatic. Explosively real. A stunning new novel of Vietnam and the men who flew the choppers across its blazing skies. Author David R. Olson was there, flying a gunship for the First Air Cavalry Division along the western border of Vietnam.
