Cholesterol Down: Ten Simple Steps to Lower Your Cholesterol in Four Weeks--Without Prescription Drugs
Review Date: 7/12/2012

I had to give it five stars; not because it was fascinating, but because it works! I've been struggling with borderline high cholesterol for several years, and my doctors wanted to put me on meds. I was already on a low fat diet and exercising a lot, but the number kept rising and HDL going down. I wanted to give a non-med approach one more try. After a few weeks on this program (doing most of the steps, but not all) my total cholesterol went down by 40 (forty!) points!!! A little longer, and my HDL went up, too. My doctor was amazed! No more threat of going on statins. Give it a try, I don't find it too hard, and it DOES work. The author provides the science behind each approach, so you feel good about trying it.

Piano Girl: Lessons in Life, Music, and the Perfect Blue Hawaiian
Review Date: 8/10/2009

Highly readable and enjoyable, especially for those of us trying to learn to play the piano as well as she does. I've given and recommended the book to other pianophile friends, and they have loved it, too.

A Presumption of Death (Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane, Bk 2)
Review Date: 8/10/2009

If you love Harriet Vane/Wimsey, and want to keep on reading about her, I highly recommend this book. Ms. Walsh has captured the spirit of Sayer's heroine beautifully. It is also a good story about life in the British countryside during WWII.

Thrones, Dominations (Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane, Bk 1)
Review Date: 6/11/2010

I enjoyed this book very much! Harriet Vane is one of my favorite female characters in all of fiction, and this author captured her spirit so well. You see the inner conflicts of an early feminist seeking balance between marriage and independence. If you like Harriet and Peter, you'll like this book! (And, Bunter gets married to another independent woman!) Be sure to read the next book, too, "A Presumption of Death."
