Mary Daheim is a master of the cozy mystery genre. This offering takes place in the U.S. northwest and is part of a series in which all of the titles have the word Alpine in them. It concerns an editor of a small tow weekly and her sidekick the society page writer. All in all another enjoyable mystery.

Bill Hawley's career as an undertaker puts him in an unusually convenient position when it comes to some types of crime. He is a very enjoyable character and all of his adventures are fun.

My first Hamish MacBeth experience and I must say it was a real pleasure to read. The way Hamish uses his contacts in the town to solve his problems are a sight to behold. I'll certainley be trying some other books from the series. A real fun read. JLM
