I gave this book 4 stars and definitely think it deserves that, but I also had some issues with it. Wolf is super condescending and I was not a fan of his "voice." I know he has dealt with a lot of people that refused to "buy in" to what he's selling, but it seems that if someone has gotten as far as to read the book, they're already willing to listen, so treat them with respect. Explain your position and why you believe it and let the reader believe what they want. You're not winning friends by telling people they are stupid not to live life your way. (And I say that as someone who IS living life the way he prescribes.)
That said this book is full of good information. The beginning of the book delves deeper into the science of how certain foods such as grains and sugars affect your body during digestion. I thought this was great, though I still wouldn't have minded a deeper dive into some subjects, especially dairy and legumes. The book spends some time on basic weight training and exercise, which is good if you are just getting started with moving more and don't want to join a gym or fitness club. He then goes into meal planning and provides recipes to help you get started. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but some look tasty and I will try them.

This is the first Paleo book I read while I was starting out eating this way. The first part of the book explains the hows and whys of the diet. I prefer to call it a "way of eating" because diet has the connotations of something you do for a little while to lose weight and that's not what paleo is. Sanfilippo does a good job of explaining what paleo is in an understandable manner. I would have liked more depth to some of the explanations, but she said upfront that this book was about laying the groundwork and basic understanding and she pointed readers to more indepth information in other books.
The second part of the book describes how the paleo diet can help different conditions and lays out meal plans for each. It describes what additional foods you should add or avoid for each condition. Obviously, most of the plans don't apply to me, but I like that I can recommend this book to others to help with their conditions. I had trouble following the diet plan because I live alone, so cooking something that makes 4-6 servings means eating it for 4-6 meals, not moving on to the next day's menu. I eventually just started picking meals off the plan I was following that looked good and didn't really follow the plan.
The third and final section of the book is recipes! I have made a lot of them, and for the most part, they're really good! Some are pretty complicated, which lead to some really late dinners a couple times, but for the most part they are straight forward and tasty. The Perfectly Baked Bacon and Swirly Crustless Quiche have become staples for breakfast.
If you're interested in learning about paleo eating and trying out paleo recipes, this is a great place to start!
