This book was very easy to read because of the friendly conversational tone. It is definitely meant to be a brief overview for homeschooling, nothing too in depth. Just meant to be an introduction and it did a good job of introducing the newbie homeschooler to many different ways to homeschool, though it definitely had a Christian point of view, so if that turns you off you may want to skip this one. But it was still, in my opinion, worth my time to read it.

I liked the way Ms. Whelchel pointed out that all homeschooling families are not all alike and how you don't have to fit the mold. It's important for parents to know that they can homeschool in a variety of situations and circumstances. I had been homeschooling for several years before she wrote the book and ours was one of the families she interviewed via email when she was researching it. We were one of the "On the Job Training Families"; we basically "gym-schooled" for the 7 years we owned our gym.

This is a really nice book by Lisa Whelchel that contains many testimonies about families who've decided to home educate their children. Those families come from all different walks of life, have different reasons for choosing homeschool, and they discuss various methods of home education that works best for their families. It's a great book for those who are simply thinking about homeschooling, or for those who have homeschooled "forever" and would enjoy the encouragement, friendly conversation, and a few laughs!

Just as the title says it is the story of 15 families and how and why they are homeschooling. If you are thinking about homeschooling but not sure you are up to it, or just want more information on different styles, this is a must-read. And this one is really quick reading and enjoyable and informative, without getting bogged down in a lot of "jargon".

I thought this book was great! A nice look into how families in different situations make homeschooling work for them. I was encouraged and educated, and would recommend this book for anyone in the very beginning stages of considering homeschooling for their child.
