This is a stretch but I used this book to teach playwriting to my 4th grade students. It's not written for that young of a writer but it worked! Each chapter has one or two exercises to help you with writing a play. For example, the chapter on dialogue tells you to "listen and write down the dialogue of two selected individual ... incorporate into your dialogue some of the speech habits you've observed." If you go in the order in which it is presented, you'll have no problem writing a short play. I found it useful for what I was using it for.
