I was gifted this book, though I hadn't previously read anything by Beth Wiseman. It was quite enjoyable, especially the outstanding short story, which was included. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be more about different Amish communities rather than about Ms. Wiseman's life as a writer. I think the title misled me, hence the 4-star rating.
Writing About the Amish: A Memoir by Beth Wiseman allows readers a behind the scenes look at an author's writing process, her research, photos, recipes, and humorous anecdotes. There is also a special and emotional short story called The Amish Adoption. I found this book fascinating. It has Beth Wiseman's trademark writing style which drew me right in. It was interesting learning more about the Amish and some of the author's experiences. There are some humorous narratives that had me chuckling. I quickly devoured the whole book and was sorry when it ended. This book gives readers a chance to know more about Beth Wiseman and the stories she creates. Writing About the Amish: A Memoir is quick read that will leave you smiling.
