This book seems like Barbara Metzger on steroids; everything is rather hyper. When Audra McPhee's wedding is stopped before she marries a bigamist, everyone takes a turn at fainting. Then, Aurora starts to accumulate animals, people, and wild circumstances. The story is slap-dab funny and wild.

It turns out that Aurora is more than the Earl of Windham deserves (and can often handle). When he must go chasing after his seriously injured brother Kit in France, Aurora takes hold of his property and starts making improvements and making his tenants happy. After Aurora meets his relations, she realizes that her first thoughts were right. His family is spoiled and hot-tempered by their favorable circumstances.

Aurora, who can only stay married to someone she loves, worries that the Earl doesn't love or trust her. Above all, he hates scandal. Aurora seems to drag scandal along behind her, wherever she goes. In fewer than 300 pages, they decide that they were meant for each other. A goofy, great, fun story.
