One of my favorite musicals of all time. This is such a clever concept: what if fairytale characters all meet up in the woods at one time, each searching for the answer to their wish? That's the premise of Act I. Act II takes a darker turn, with what happens after "Happily Ever After," and believe me, it isn't pretty. The music is typical Sondheim, with complex orchestrations, patter songs (very quickly sung and played), and beautiful harmonies. Read it, listen to it, and see it if you can!
