I am not a mountain climber or even an athlete, but I do like to read about real women and how they overcame obstacles to succeed. And, boy, did these women overcome obstacles. Imagine climbing the highest peaks wearing a skirt. A thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, and enlightening read about individual women who pursued their dreams against all odds.

I love books about mountaineering and eagerly devour all that I can get my hands on. I just could not get into this one. It is written like a textbook instead of a true account of adventure. I gave it about 50 pages before giving up. It was gratifying to know how many women had actually made first ascents of some of the Alps back in a time when women were not even allowed to join the Alpine clubs. But this could have been done way better.
