Hilda Stahl is one of my favorite authors. Her books always have more depth than many of the Christian romance writers.
Good clean Christian novel.
Great book. The last book written by the incredibly talented author Hilda Stahl before she died. The sequel to this book "The Winds of Catawba" was written by her daughter, Laurie Stahl.
The first of the series. Taylor escapes with her child from a cruel man. She leaves Liverpool to go to SOuth Carolina and meets the Marstons who save her. Kinda cool-sequel written bysister.
I did not enjoy this book. Though the story line was very good, I did not find most of the characters believable. It seemed that each character was either evil or perfect. Some of the characters swung wildly between good and evil.
My love for historical/romance novels rates this 4 star. It was everything I expected in this genre, with the addition of suspense. A good read.
Excellent Book. I really enjoyed the story.
Great story with strong christian women as the primary characters. The story begins with a quick beginning on the docks of England leaving for America, post Revolutionary War. The twists and turns have you glued to the pages while watching each underlying theme play out. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of these women! Underlying themes of prejudice, slavery, and following God's will.
