I would give it a seven but it was just too odd. I found myself confused and re-reading things to make sure I had read them right.
And what is up with her falling inside the purse? It might be a metaphor or something but I'm not sure.

for young adults (but I read it as an adult) How young Anna overcomes her desire to hide from the world and decides to live in it and experience life despite her shyness.
Dramatic and humorous.
This book is good, but really kinda odd. The story is confusing at times, and honestly I got the creeps once or twice imagining this. Also it was a little frustrating because I wanted her to have a condition or something, but no, she is just shy.
A shy girl of seven, disappears into an imaginary world and must decided if she will return to her life and her family.
This was a lovely read.
Anna is more than shy. She is nearly invisible. Most of the time her mother and sisters don't see, hear or pay attention to her. At seven, terrified of the prospect of school, Anna retreats within her enormous Victorian house, and builds a house of her own: passageways and hidden rooms become her world. As the years go by, her family forgets she ever existed. Then a mysterious note is thrust through a crack in the wall, and Anna must decide whether or not to come out of hiding. Her life may seem like a fantasy-but there is nothing more real.
